Fuel
Nutrition and hydration are the fuel to keep you focused, energized, and playing better. Here are a few simple tips to keep you nourished and sharp for the entire round, especially on the back nine.
- Pack healthy snacks. Nuts, proteins, fruits and veggies, protein bars (low in sugar), and foods that are easy to digest with balanced macronutrients are ideal. Eat every 6-9 holes to maintain energy and blood sugar levels.
- Meal time. Eat a rainbow. Aim for at least three colors on your plate. The brighter and deeper the colors, usually means more nutritional value.
- Hydrate. Water is key, even in the winter. It is suggested to drink .5 to 1 oz. of liquids per pound of body weight. Hot herbal teas with a natural sweetener are a tasty change during the colder months. Be mindful of the caffeinated drinks and their affects on swing tempo. It’s challenging to swing smoothly on the first tee when we have a major caffeine buzz.
Try these simple solutions to stay energized and fueled for an entire round and beyond!
