What Did You Shoot?
“Future pain can and should be avoided.”
(Inspired by Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtra II:16)
Why do we judge our performance only on the score when we don’t have 100% control over the outcome?
To clarify, we can control our efforts and intentions (internal), we can’t control the results (external). It’s our interpretation of our score that causes the present and future pain. What happens to our strategy after making a double bogey? Or our tension levels when we know the upcoming putt is to shoot our lowest score ever?
If we didn’t know our score, would our experience be different?
The practice is to polish the lens of perception so we can see past the final score and not become defined by our number. The process of hitting good shots becomes the focus.
This is our freedom from the truckloads of future suffering. You are NOT your number. How does this apply to life beyond the links?
