Home(Om) On The Range
Make sure when you are practicing at the driving range that you are giving each shot your full attention. Structure your practice so that it is productive. Be specific with what you are intending to do and for how long. Here are some ideas:
- “Block Practice”: (Hitting many shots in a row with the same club). This is great for when you are making a swing change and need to do drills, high amounts of repetition. It is NOT for tournament preparation or part of a warm up session.
- BTT: Use Balance, Tempo and Tension Management Drills to keep you in the “sensory mode” rather than being stuck in the mind.
- Pre-Shot Routine: Go through your full pre-shot routine while changing clubs and changing targets on every shot. . .this will get the “range swing” to show up on the course where it matters most.
- Simulating Golf: Visualizing the course on the range and creating each shot exactly how you intend to play each hole.
- Simulate Pressure: Make yourself hit shots with different scenarios. For example, “This shot is for the Championship of the World!”
Remember, what we practice we get good at. . . what are you practicing?
