Happy Golfers Play Better?
Mistakenly, we believe happiness is a byproduct of success. For example, “If I shoot a particular score, then I will be happy.” Ever notice how miserable tour players are? They shoot lower scores than most golfers, but frequently enjoy the game far less than most 30-Handicappers.
As we reverse the order, we make happiness the priority, then successful outcomes prevail. Unsurpassed happiness comes from:
- The practice of separating self-worth from our golf score.
- Doing the best we can in every moment.
- Accepting the challenges golf throws at us.
- Committing to the process.
- Using contentment as the key to a sweeter adventure on every shot.
Everything is precisely as it should be, and we are exactly where we are supposed to be. I, however, will also be thrilled when my student wins their first U.S. Open!
