The Power of Threes: Part 2

Continued from Part 1.
Physically we can apply the “rule of thirds” when assessing our golf fitness training and preparation process. Strength coaches and Olympic athletes often talk about the “rule of thirds”:
- 1/3 of your training time you should feel great.
- 1/3 of the time you should feel okay.
- 1/3 of the time you should be challenged/feel like you’re struggling.
If you’re spending more time in the “great” category, perhaps you’re not pushing yourself enough. On the other hand, if you’re spending more than a third of your sessions struggling, then you might be pushing yourself too hard.
Golf grants us the opportunity to both physically and mentally find the balance between effort and ease.
Using the power of three, we dynamically navigate the ups and downs of golf’s physical and mental challenges.
