An effective mental picture is to imagine the downswing and backswing moving along a plane of glass. 

While the angle of the imaginary glass may vary depending on the player’s height, the concept of the swing path remains the same. This fundamental develops more efficiency in ball flight direction and curvature.  

In other words, hit it longer and straighter!
