Good Vibrations
There is a certain feel and vibration when we strike the golf ball in the center of the clubface. The sweet spot feels effortless and “buttery,” similar to a warm knife cutting through butter.
One of the basic fundamentals of the game, most technical work focuses on consistently making solid ball contact. Almost all swing mechanics can be traced to this ultimate goal.
Why is it important to hit the ball in the sweet-spot?
- Better efficiency of energy and strength transferred to the ball during the swing.
- “Smash Factor” improves.
- Trajectory and ball flight is more controllable.
- “Gear Effect” is minimized creating less curvature to the ball flight. For example, a shot struck towards the heal of the club will tend to have a fade/slice spin to it, while a ball struck on the toe will have draw/hook spin on it.
- It sounds better.
- It feels so much better. . . good vibrations!
So butter-up the golf swing mechanics and keep the good vibrations rolling. It’s time to start hitting the sweet-spot!
