Optimism Verses Confidence
Confidence in golf stems from the deep-seated belief in possessing the necessary skills and abilities for success.
Conversely, optimism represents a broader philosophical outlook. It’s the belief that positive outcomes will result if necessary actions are taken.
Both confidence and optimism are heavily influenced by past memories. Reflecting on successful shots can reinforce confidence while dwelling on past mistakes amplify doubt.
Ruminating over the double bogey or the last 3-putt does not lead to more confidence. Spit those memories out, IT’S GUM YOU’VE ALREADY CHEWED.
