How to Practice Between Lessons
Questing for any new skill, especially golf improvement, requires practice between lessons. Here are four keys to expediting the growth process:
1. Repetition
- Devote time to repeating the fundamentals you’ve been working on in lessons.
- Practice with purpose by concentrating on ONE ISSUE AT A TIME.
2. Feedback
- Seek accurate feedback from a trusted source such as a launch monitor, ball flight laws, impact tape, video, etc.
3. Attention
- Eliminate distractions during your practice sessions. Whether at the driving range or in the backyard, maintain focus on your intended technique without interference.
4. Variability
- Spice up the practice routine by introducing variability. Experiment with different clubs, stances, and shot types to broaden your skill set.
- Play simulated rounds in your mind, imagining different scenarios on the course. This mental variability prepares you for the unpredictable nature of actual play.
Incorporating these practice keys between lessons will accelerate the assimilation of the new skill. This sets the stage for us to tackle the next challenge during your future lessons. With game improvement, the fun never ends! (Inspired by the coaches of Vision54)
